Practically identical to the 6th edition, but still an awesome book.

The 7th edition is nearly indistinguishable from the 6th edition. The only notable difference is the 7th edition has 44 additional pages (866 vs. 822) and 20-40% more illustrations - albeit these 'new' illustrations are associated with the same 'old' questions found identically in the 6th edition. To put it another way, the literary content has not changed - it just looks prettier. When I compared the two editions with acrobat pro, I was only able to find a handful of instances where new content was added.
If you already own the 6th edition, feel free to navigate away from this page - you don't need to purchase this version.
If you don't own this book, I would highly recommend purchasing it - it may not be the greatest study-aid for your shelf exam (too much technical detail), but it WILL save you the humiliation of being pimped to death on your rotation.

Good reference for getting "pimped"

This book is a good reference for all of those questions the surgeon asks students in the OR. This book is not helpful for the NBME Shelf.
I had an older version to look at as well, and they were pretty much identical. Thus, you can save money and get the older version.

A must if you have a surgery rotation coming up. It wasn't too helpful for me for the shelf exam at the end of the rotation, however, it was very useful for looking up a couple facts before going into a surgery. Downside is that the book is kind of heavy and it weighs your white coat down, but I think you will be behind other classmates if you don't utilize it.
