It would have been better to have the line drawings throughout the book as ...

This is not really a field guide at over 1000 pages! Compared to other field guides I own, I would have to say that it is over informative, with the reader requiring a high degree of firstaid knowledge, and in some cases, resources. It would have been better to have the line drawings throughout the book as colour pictures (and more of them) rather than having the colour plates at the start, some of which I thought were irrelevant. As an abbreviated version of the authors text book, which is a tome in itself, this is ok, but it is certainly not concise, simple,lightweight and easy to use, which is what I look for when backpacking.

Complete, well-organized and readable.

I am a retired physician who specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a field far on the other end of the spectrum of care from emergency or field medicine. Looking for a resource allowing me to be useful in emergencies for church outings or family hiking, I discovered this remarkable textbook. The organization of topics was well thought out, with sections covering specific circumstances such as altitude sickness or tropical medicine as well as more general chapters on approach to emergencies and splints and bandages. I especially appreciated the listing of what can and should go into complete first aid kits.

I red it and I passed it

This is the excellent book for the self-test and quick score improving study before real exam. I read it 3 times before test and found out where is my weakness. It was very helpful for my exam. I even found many questions in NCCAOM exam were very similar like those in these book. They may copy some questions from these books

Errors, not helpful

This is a horrible prep book. I took three of the tests and found, upon review, that over 10% of the answers were wrong! I can't believe that the previous reviewers didn't catch this. Difficult to use for test taking and scoring. Many of the questions are as poorly worded as the actual NCCAOM test. In this way, it is helpful.
