This maritime experience has been amassed from the Atlantic and Mediterranean to the Baltic and the Black Sea, and even into the Indian Ocean, as well as from the four decades spent defending NATO allies on the high seas during the Cold War. The single most profound lesson learned over the years has concerned the importance of efficient coordination. Structures and mechanisms have been created, not least in recent counter piracy operations, which enable a vast array of actors to work together in an efficient way, and which could prove invaluable in future efforts to counter terrorism and aggression worldwide.The safety of the maritime domain is essential to the freedom and security of all nations, and this book will be of interest to all those whose work involves maintaining that freedom and security.

Building Vocabulary One Word at a Time

I teach an ENL conversation class to advanced speakers, and I use this book as a way to build vocabulary and fine-tune pronunciation. Each of the 42 lessons contain: 12 vocabulary words with definitions; examples of how to use the word in a sentence; passages using the words; several fill-in-the word activities; and word usage exercises. It's a wonderful book for my foreign students, but I also think any adult or high school student could benefit from it. Each chapter begins with an interesting quote by a famous person that relates to words or word usage. The book also includes practice tests, 100 frequently misspelled words and 125 additional difficult, but essential words. It's a very useful book at a great price that can be used by anyone who wants to build their vocabulary.

An Excellent Resource for Leaning New Words and Their Proper Use

I am using this book to help an adult student improve his literacy skills. The book is very well done and includes a fine selection of words, their definitions, fill-in-the-blank sentences, and other challenges to assist in word retention. Plus, just reading through each assignment has been very helpful for my student. The book is a true pleasure. Hey, I've learned some things as well!

This book was required for a college course I took, but it is still a fantastic tool! It is one of the best textbooks I have used, and as a senior I have been through quite a few. It contains many ideas for interdisciplinary subjects in the classroom as well as many projects and activities to engage students in the classroom. I hope to use many ideas throughout my career.

Strong Coverage of Spectroscopy, interesting labs

This book contains an exceptionally strong coverage of spectroscopy. Proton and carbon NMR are well explained, with detailed tables to predict and justify chemical shifts. IR spec is also well explained. A limited discussion of mass spec is also present. The laboratory exercises are clear in most cases, with a few minor exceptions. Be sure to read the instructions before lab as a few exercises contin ambiguous instructions that become more clear if the entire lab is read first. The number of syntheses is excellent, and many laboratory exercises contain interesting procedures that result in various colored, or common products. As a student of one of the authors, Dr. Douglas F. Taber, I have found this book to be a useful reference for spectroscopy as well as an excellent lab text.

Good Condition!

The book came in excellent condition, better than i expected. The book however doesn't have the end of lab write ups required for the Houston Community College Labs(organic 1 and 2). My professor allowed me to write one up and turn it in on a separate sheet, so It worked out!
