I am sure that my words will not do this book justice, but I will continue to share my elation over this text with everyone I encounter. After struggling for years reading through poorly translated texts and searching out obscure references this one book makes clear so many aspects of prophethood in the Judeo-Christian and Islamic traditions. Many questions that I have had are intuitively and clearly addressed with accessible sources and explanations. The organization of the text is easy to follow and the font size is even easy on the eyes. As a religious studies professor I have found this text to be an extremely useful reference for explaining the different portrayals of prophets in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. As a lifelong student of Islam this text engages the reader to understand, comprehend and question the connectedness of the Prophetic role and apply that understanding to self-development and understanding of God. This text is a must read for the seekers of knowledge and those who truly want a better understanding of the important figures in the Judeo-Christian and Islamic traditions through the lens of the Quran and ahadith traditions.

Loving, joyful adoption story - highly recommended

As the adoptive mom of a six year old adopted from China almost five years ago, I have been looking for a book to share with my daughter that could evoke the feelings we have about her special place in our lives. This comes very close. The story of this adoption journey to China rings true -- it is based on the author's own experience. Lewis' text is loving and joyful --tinged with the longing and sadness that is often part of adoptions. An essential element of this book and one that I especially appreciate is the author's mention of her feelings for her daughter's Chinese mother. We have read and re-read "I Love You Like Crazy Cakes" at our house and it has sparked very necessary and important discussions with our daughter. Dyer's lovely watercolor illustrations are charming --and add to the warm loving tone of the story - it's just wonderful!

"I Love You Like Crazy Cakes" became an instant favorite in our house from the moment we opened it. My 6-year-old daughter, adopted from China, has not expressed a lot of interest in hearing her adoption story-- until we brought home this book. The sweet story and delightful illustrations have made it easier for her to understand her story and we read it together several times a week. It's also a great book to peruse by myself when I want to reflect on the experience of adopting from China. I highly recommend this book!

An Excellent Addition to Any Family's Library

One of my favorite roles as a parent is introducing my children to families of many types. In "I Love You Like Crazy Cakes", my children can understand that sometimes Mommys and Babies become a family by being united via airplanes and adoption officials and guess what? The amazing love is the same.
I especially loved that the author shared the gratitude and love for the "other" mother who provided the gift of this baby into her life. Beautifully stated and at times, overlooked.
The illustrations must be mentioned also: they are stunningly beautiful with the emotions of the subjects literally entering my heart from the page.

This book is a miracle. Somewhat dated, it provides the most comprehensive history, philosophy, and understanding of pre-Mao China. Peppered with insights about the contrasts and comparisons between America and China. Its discussion of Confucianism and Taoism are tempting me to adopt those religions. This is the one book on China you must own. An added bonus, it does prove that "life is worth living."

A Book Everyone Should Read

This is an English language classic. Everyone should read The Importance of Living. Mr. Lin speaks on living from a Chinese point of view. Highlights include relaxation--Chinese vs. Western. Mr. Lin was a well-known and well-respected English language writer in the first half of the twentieth century. One caveat, this book being written when it was, does contain a chapter on the enjoyment of tobacco. I have read this book many times. It is in my top ten non-fiction books.

Needed a lot more polish and vision

There are probably some gems scattered within the text of this book, but they are hard to find. The book is a collection of contributions from various consultants. You know how it goes . . . "shopper marketing" is a hot topic right now, just like "customer relationship management" was at one point, so consultants rush to re-label whatever they are doing so that it fits under the hot topic.
There seems to have been little quality control, beyond copyediting, and not much in the way of a unifying vision. If you really want to learn about "shopper marketing," like I did, you probably won't learn much from this volume. Even the section headed, "What is Shopper Marketing?" doesn't actually define shopper marketing. Overall, this volume was really a disapointment to me.

Excellent A must read for all computer users.

Anyone that owns/uses a computer should read Computer Forensics.

Marie Helen Maras introduces cybercriminals, laws and evidence without bogging down in either too much emphasis on hardware and software technical information, or so much legal analysis that a comprehensive background in law is required.

She explains the litany of terms and explains real life examples of those who perpetrated some these crimes.

She talks about logic bombs, keyloggers, sniffers and botnets (taking control over a computer) by botherders, without the knowledge of the computer user and so so much more.

This is an important book that should be read by all computer users.

People should be aware of these risks.

Find the crime then get a conviction

There are at least two major aspects of Computer Forensics. irst there is the technical aspects of how hackers break into systems to collect data (like credit card or social security card numbers, or of course secret data such as the military has) or to do damage which can vary from a denial of service attack by so overloading a companies systems that they can no longer deliver web pages. The second aspect is how to convert these crimes into something that can be taken to the courtroom and presented to the judge/jury.

Dr. Maras has combined these two aspects together to present a book that gives an excellent overview of the way the real world is not viewing computer crime. The technical aspect is necessary in order to be able to determine a crime has been committed and how it was done. The courtroom aspect is necessary if any evidence collected is going to be used to actually secure a conviction and this has to be done in a world where the average judge or jury is not overly familiar with computers.
